If you’re planning a South Carolina spring wedding, Madi and Dylan’s March celebration in Saluda is everything you need to see. This day had it all – a beautiful chapel ceremony, emotional moments that left everyone in tears, friends who showed up with so much joy, and a couple whose love for each other and their faith was woven into every part of their wedding day.
Madi and Dylan have been together since middle school. This wasn’t just any wedding day – this was years in the making, and you could feel that in every moment.

Getting Ready for a Spring Wedding Day
The day started with Dylan fishing outside the guys’ cabin. If that doesn’t tell you everything you need to know about how relaxed and intentional this day was, I don’t know what does. As a South Carolina wedding photographer, I love when grooms take a moment to just be themselves before the day kicks into high gear.
Meanwhile, Madi and her bridesmaids were having a full dance party! The energy was exactly what you’d want – fun, light, celebratory. But before they got dressed, all the girls circled up and prayed together. Watching Madi’s bridesmaids surround her and lift her up before one of the biggest days of her life was one of those moments that reminds me why I love photographing weddings in South Carolina. These weren’t just bridesmaids – these were her people, and they loved her well.
Madi’s dress was stunning. Simple, elegant, with a low back that fit her like a glove. It was the kind of dress that doesn’t need anything extra because it’s already perfect. Her bridesmaids wore sage green dresses, and I loved how different they were from what I usually see. The maid of honor’s dress had a subtle pattern that set her apart, which was such a nice touch.

Spring weddings in South Carolina are unbeatable. The weather in March, April, and May is beautiful – warm but not too hot, with that soft golden light that makes everything look incredible. The landscape is green and alive, and you get all the benefits of outdoor wedding photography without the harsh summer sun or unpredictable winter weather.
For couples planning a spring wedding in South Carolina, timing matters. Book your venue and vendors early – spring is a popular season, especially in the Carolinas. And think about what time of day you want your ceremony. Late afternoon ceremonies give you that perfect golden hour light for portraits, which is what we had for Madi and Dylan’s day.

Madi and Dylan did a first touch before the ceremony. They stood back to back, held hands, and read private vows to each other. Watching Dylan’s face as he listened to Madi’s words left us (photographers and videographers) speechless. These are the moments that matter, the ones you’ll remember years from now.

The ceremony itself was emotional and traditional. Madi and Dylan are both very vocal about their faith, and that was clear throughout the service. There wasn’t a dry eye in the chapel. Not from the bridesmaids, not from the groomsmen, not from anyone. When two people who have loved each other since middle school finally get to say “I do,” it hits different. You could feel how long they’d been waiting for this moment, and how much it meant to everyone who knew them.
Dylan is a Citadel graduate, so after the ceremony, they exited the chapel through a sword arch. His groomsmen lined up with swords raised, and Madi and Dylan walked through as husband and wife. It was such a cool moment that added something unique to their day.

After the ceremony, one of my favorite parts of any wedding day happened – that moment when friends and family get to rush up and congratulate the couple. The joy, the hugs, the celebrating; it’s chaotic and beautiful and I always make sure to capture it. These aren’t posed shots. This is real life, real emotion, and some of my favorite images from all weddings come from these in-between moments.

We headed outside for couple portraits, and the light was perfect. March in South Carolina can be unpredictable (it was unexpectedly windy and cold that day) but the sun was out and the golden hour light was unreal. Madi’s veil and dress moved beautifully in the wind, and we made the most of the open fields and tree lines on the property.
Here’s what I love about photographing spring weddings in South Carolina – you get that soft, warm light without the harsh summer sun, and everything is lush and green without being overgrown. It’s the sweet spot for outdoor wedding photography. Whether you’re getting married in Columbia, Charleston, Greenville, or somewhere in between, spring gives you the best conditions for beautiful, timeless photos.

After we finished their husband and wife portraits, Madi and Dylan did something I’ve never seen before. They pulled out their phone and recorded a video message for their future children, telling them that mom and dad just got married. I’m not exaggerating when I say it was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. The intentionality, the forward-thinking love, the way they were already thinking about their family, it was so them, and so special.

The reception space was beautiful. The stone fireplace was decorated with a gold-framed mirror, white and green florals, and candles. The tables had gorgeous patterned linens that added texture and interest without being over the top. String lights, greenery installations, and a wooden pergola outside created the perfect spring wedding aesthetic.
Honeycomb Florals did an amazing job with the arrangements – white blooms, greenery, and sage tones that tied everything together. The design felt fresh, romantic, and timeless. Murphy Weddings coordinated the day, and everything ran smoothly from start to finish. When you have a great planner, it shows. Madi and Dylan were able to be present and enjoy their day instead of worrying about logistics, which is exactly how it should be.

Photography coverage ended with a sparkler exit – always a fun way to wrap up the night. Madi and Dylan walked through a tunnel of sparklers held by their friends and family, and you could see the pure joy on their faces. It was the perfect ending to a day that celebrated not just their love for each other, but their faith, their community, and the life they’re building together.

Meet CARLY
I’m a wife and mom of two, which has taught me to notice the in-between moments that matter most — the way your parents tear up during the vows, your best friend adjusting your veil, the quiet touch before you walk down the aisle. These are the moments that become priceless over time. I work with couples who not only value thoughtfully designed details and personal touches throughout their day, but who see their wedding as a celebration of something much bigger — a marriage built on love and friendship. With a calm, candid approach, I capture timeless, film-inspired images so you can be fully present and trust that every meaningful moment is documented.
And I can't wait to get to know you!
