Motherhood is one of the most important and best parts of my life. I’m a completely different mom than I always pictured – I never thought I’d be the “Pinterest mom” (only on some days, lol) but here I am!
As a work from home mom (with a clingy toddler), I’m always trying to find new, budget friendly and creative ways to entertain my son. If you’re like me, you love setting up fun sensory activities for your toddlers or babies to do at home. These activities are simple and inexpensive! None of these ideas are mine. I’ve gotten everything from Pinterest but I’m hoping it’ll give you a little inspiration to create some of these for your children! These are perfect for a rainy day or when you need to work from home but want to keep your little ones busy.
I’m sharing just a few of mine and Leighton’s favorites over the past two years but click here to see my full Pinterest board (that I continually add to) for more activities and inspo!
EASTER EGG PUZZLE HUNT
supplies you need:
+plastic easter eggs
+easter basket grass
+puzzle with pieces small enough to fit inside the eggs
Put the grass in a basket or bin with the eggs filled with the puzzle pieces. Put the puzzle beside the basket and bam! An Easter egg puzzle piece hunt! Leighton loves this one! This helps with fine motor skills which is a huge plus.
PIPECLEANER COLANDER
supplies you need:
+pipecleaners
+colander
This one was great when Leighton was around 7-10 months old. He loved this activity! Again, it helped with developing those fine motor skills and kept him busy and engaged for a while.
ANIMAL RESCUE
supplies you need:
+any set of animal figurines you have
+painter’s tape
I’ve seen where people do this one on a muffin tin or cookie sheet but I usually just use a wall or table. Tape the animals down to whatever surface you choose and you can have a basket or barn if using barn animals, bucket of water if using sea animals, etc for your child to put them in once they “rescue” the animals from the tape.
Wether you’re a work from home mom or a mom looking for new, fun ways to get your toddler exploring and playing, I hope you found this post helpful! Pinterest is my favorite place to go to find new things to try!
