SOUTH CAROLINA NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHER
Having a newborn is magical and overwhelming all at once. You want to be the best mom to this precious life you’ve brought into the world and, of course, you want this time documented. But, if we’re being honest, a photo session just days or weeks after giving birth can be stressful which is why I’m writing this blog. As a newborn photographer, It’s my job to not only come document this new and exciting time in your life, but to inform you on what to expect before, during and after your session.
Today, I’m focusing on your pre-session planning!
01. Plan your outfits before baby’s arrival.
This is for the whole family. Start thinking of color palette and where in your home you want to hang prints/wall art. If you need outfit guidance, click here for the blog post where I go into more detail about how to style your family.
A good rule of thumb is to purchase a dress one size up from your normal size. It’s better to be a little loose and comfortable!
Order/purchase all outfits 1 or 2 months before baby’s due date. For several reasons, this gives you cushion in case an item comes in that you end up wanting to return for something else or baby arrives early so you’re not scrambling to find outfits at the last minute!
03. Feed baby right before your photographer arrives
Depending on your session date, baby may still be taking quite a while to feed or even a little less time now. Either way, schedule those 20-45 minutes in before your photographer arrives to feed your baby. A full baby usually = a sleepy (or at least happy) baby which = a smooth session. But, please don’t stress if we have to take breaks for feedings during your session. More about that in the next blog in this series!
