As a mama myself, I know what products I’ll be using for when my husband and I have baby #2 and I’m sharing my favorites with you today!
Keep in mind, my must haves may be totally different from your must haves for you and your baby. This is simply a list of what I enjoyed and will definitely use again. We still use so many of these products today and he’s almost 2 years old!!

I had done my research on carseats and I had narrowed it down to a few but when I got to see this one in person, I knew it was the one. You just can’t beat how easy and lightweight it is. I can’t wait to use this with our next baby!
If I’m being honest, Leighton really just liked to be held. All. The. Time. BUT, when I was able to put him down for a minute to do something, this thing was a life saver. I could put it anywhere, easily carry it around the house and it’s easy to clean! note: he was ALWAYS supervised when sleeping or awake in the snuggle me
The Happiest Baby Sleepea Swaddle
There were so many swaddles we tried with Leighton but this one was our tried and true! It was the easiest to get him into and he didn’t seem to mind. Leighton is also hot-natured and it’s super breathable so it made me feel so much better!
We love the Hatch sound machine still but it was a MUST in the newborn days! It was nice to be able to have a little bit of light while feeding Leighton but not fully wake him up from the light of a lamp. Plus, I could control it from my phone. Even now, for the very rare occasion he wakes up in the middle of the night, I can brighten up the light a little before I go in his room so I can see where I’m going. It’s so helpful and there’s SO much you can do with it. You can change the colors, the luminance of the light, the sound and volume of each sound and you can even program it to certain timers. Once he’s in a big boy bed, I plan to set the colors on a timer so that he knows when his light turns green in the morning, that means he can get out of bed if he chooses to!
This was great for on-the-go naps!! Whether in/attached to the stroller or in the car, this portable sound machine is magic!
A paci in general was a must for me. After seeing the research about it helping prevent SIDS, I knew I wanted to try to get Leighton to take one. He ended up liking the Bibs brand and I really liked them too! Of course they’re cute but they also never broke or tore. I thought for sure once he started really chewing on stuff and had teeth he’d get through but he never did and we didn’t stop using the paci until he was 17 months old. I also loved the mushie paci clips for when he was a newborn!
For breastfeeding: a Haakaa
I suggest buying several. I had two but if I had continued my breastfeeding/pumping journey, I probably would’ve bought two more! *Make sure you get the ones that come with the lids! When I gave birth, not even two years ago, Haakaa only had the kind that I have linked above. But now, Haakaa has made a new wearable one that would be much more suitable if you’re on the go, in the car, in public or even just around the house and need to get things done. I cannot wait to try these out next time because I always got more milk when I used my haakaa than I did with my actual pump! Click here for the new Haakaa!
For bottle feeding: Dr. Brown’s bottles
I registered for these bottles for two reasons. 1. My SLP bestie told me they are the best. 2. I had heard how great they were for babies who were gassy/had reflux and I wanted to be prepared if that were the case. Leighton did have silent reflux but never once had trouble with these bottles. They’re a pain to clean but well worth the trouble in my opinion. If you end up pumping and bottle feeding or formula feeding, you’ll want lots of bottles. At least, if you’re like me and don’t want to have to wash bottles late at night because there are no clean ones for in the morning. We had probably a day and half worth of bottles. And yes, I know some people put bottles in the dishwasher but 1. I wanted to make sure they were SUPER clean and 2. the dishwasher is soooo slow which brings me to my next favorite….
Baby Brezza Sterilizer and Dryer:
Necessary for your baby? No. Necessary for your sanity? YAAAAS. I could wash the bottles, put them in this sterilizer and they’d be clean AND dry in 45 minutes.
This thermometer was so easy to use and perfect for wiggly babies. We are so lucky that we didn’t have to use it often but when we did, it was perfect!
Boogie Bulb and Oogiebear
We took the boogie bulb they gave us in the hospital and used it for any boogies but when we couldn’t get that to work, we loved the oogiebear – just trust me on this one.
Once he was a few weeks old, he loved being in this bouncer! It also has a vibration setting if your baby prefers something like that!
Again, none of this is sponsored but if you are having your first baby and/or want to learn how to handle sleep/baby schedules differently, Cara is your girl. I bought all five of her courses and although her newborn course didn’t help with the sleep aspect for Leighton (we ended up doing her sleep training course when he was 5.5 months old and it was worth every penny), I learned SO much about tired/hungry cues, what a schedule should look like for his age and so much more. I highly recommend all of her courses. She also has really great info on her instagram as well!
If you’re still reading, thanks for being here! I could talk about babies and all things relating to motherhood all day long. I would love to do more posts like this so let me know what you’d like to see next!
